'Tis the season to be jolly! That's right my fellow witches and wizards, Christmas is right around the corner! With all the hustle and bustle going on in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade this time of year, I thought about going back to get in a few interviews. Then a NEW idea came to mind. This Christmas I'm going to let you all, my wonderful readers, have a sneak peak of what Christmas REALLY is! This December I decided to travel up north to Greenland. Why Greenland you ask? Well, to go to Santa's workshop of course!

Santa rarely books interviews, so this is an exclusive, once in a lifetime opportunity. Prior to my holiday trip I thought that Santa's Workshop was located in Iceland. I figured Greenland was...well...more green? Upon arrival, however, I was surprised to see that Greenland was covered in ICE! Santa's Workshop was a large, wooden building that sat on top of an icy mountain. A large red cabin sat next to the workshop, which turned out to be Santa's house.

I entered the cozy log cabin and was seated on black leather couch by a house elf. I knew that Santa had elves to make his toys, but I didn't know that he too had house elves! The fire place was going on the other side of the living room which kept the room comfortably warm. After ten minutes of waiting a tall, muscular young man around the age of thirty entered the room. He was wearing black pants, a red shirt, and a black tie. I raised an eyebrow at him before I spoke.

“I'm here to interview St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus. Do you know when he'll be in?” I asked politely, not quite sure who the young man was. The tall man began to laugh a deep laugh before answering me. “I am St. Nicholas. St. Nick Junior they call me! I'm still known as Santa Claus in both the Wizard World and the Muggle World though,” the young man answered.

I stared at him for a moment, my mouth hanging open a bit. “I'll try to say this as politely as possible, but aren't you supposed to be older...and a bit...heavier?” I asked.

The young man laughed his deep laugh once again. “That was my father. Actually, my great-grandfather started this many many years ago! Although we are slightly more magical than the average wizard, we still die eventually. The average age in my family is 150. My father died about ten years ago and I've been in charge of the workshop, the reindeer, the elves, and delivering toys ever since!” St. Nick Jr. shot me a charming smile as he explained his family situation. I was still a bit curious though, where was Mrs. Claus? What about the reindeer? Did Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen still exist?

“Whoa ho ho ho! I'll answer your questions one at a time! I'm still quite young, so I'm still looking for a Mrs. Claus,” St. Nick Jr. said with a wink. I simply rolled my eyes as I took notes. This interview wasn't going exactly as I had planned.

“As for the reindeer, they're one of the most magical creatures around! There are average reindeer in Europe, but the Claus reindeer have been the same for centuries. They never die! Not only that, but they have many magical powers aside from flying. For instance, Rudolph's bright red nose is very warm and not only does it provide light for me on my long trips, but it also heals minor cuts and scrapes!” I nodded and closed my notebook. This wasn't what I was bargaining for, but it was indeed, a very interesting interview!

I thanked the “new” Santa Claus for his time, honesty, and valuable information before I apparated back to England. Santa is real folks, but he isn't that little plump man that you see on Christmas cards and ornaments! You'll have to wait at least five decades for that image to be accurate again. Happy Holidays, and remember to be good little witches and wizards! Santa is still making a list and checking it twice.
